Costa Rica, or the "Rich Coast", is a very small place with an interesting amount of contrasts. By traveling to both coastlines of the country, visitors become familiar with the combination of ecology and culture that is unique to each coast. During your travels from Caribbean to Pacific, you will experience a whole different scenario with the people and natural beauty of the two regions.

This trip will transport you into the pristine rain forest and Afro-Jamaican communities of Tortuguero on the Caribbean coastline. Also, you will experience the area of Manuel Antonio National Park and the recent major developments on the Central Pacific coastline. A couple of domestic flights will keep you off of the roads with bumpy rides and will make out of this journey something very unforgettable.

MAIN ITINERARY Green Arrow

Day 1 - Arrive to San Jose, Costa Rica
Your tour starts in San Josi by being picked up at the airport by our Costa Rican English-speaking representative, transferred to your hotel, and provided with general information to prepare you for the tour and for your early departure to the Caribbean the next morning. Enjoy your accommodations at Gran Hotel Costa Rica.

Meals are not included today.


Day 2 - San Jose to Tortuguero
Be ready for an early departure as you begin your adventure en route to Tortuguero. You will be accessing one of most but beautiful areas of Costa Rica, Tortuguero National Park. In the process of getting to the final destination, you will drive throughout one of the most spectacular natural sceneries ever, the Braulio Carrillo National Park. This will be one of the only chances you will have to be in contact with the last number of acres of pristine forest on the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica.

After having a delicious native breakfast, the trip will continue through an extended area of different crops, where pineapple and banana plantations have become very popular. At the end of the bus drive, the ground transportation will be exchanged for a challenging adventure - kayaking on the Suerte River, which will lead you straight to your accommodations at Mawamba Lodge.

Day 3 - Tortuguero National Park
In the morning, visit Tortuguero National Park to go kayaking through the infamous canals. Tortuguero is a place where you will be interacting with all of the different natural wonders simply by taking a journey throughout the waterways. After lunch, the afternoon will be dedicated back on the Tortuguero canals, or if you prefer, enjoy a nice stroll on the beach, for the lodge is located just by the Caribbean Sea. This part of the Costa Rican coastline is not recommended for swimming, but it would be the perfect place to walk and enjoy an interesting mixture of jungle and ocean view. (Mawamba Lodge)

Day 4 - Flight from Totuguero to San Jose to Quepos
Early in the morning you will be taken by the Mawamba lodge staff to the local airstrip where you will catch your flight back to San Jose. From San Jose, you will fly to Quepos on the Central Pacific coastline. By noon, you will have arrived to Quepos, and your driver will pick you up to transfer you to your accommodations. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 5 - At leisure on the Pacific Coast
Relax on the beach and enjoy your free day in the area of Manuel Antonio.

Day 6 - Return To San Jose
In order to fully take advantage of your time around the Pacific coastline, your ground transportation will depart for San Jose after lunch, giving you the morning free to savor every last moment on the coast.

Day 7 - Depart from San Jose, Costa Rica
After a morning breakfast, catch the shuttle to the airport where you will await your flight back home.
